The Reading Room opened to the general public in June 2011, with our mission “Connecting kids to the community through literacy”. The program seeks to ensure that every child has access to books in his/her own home; to encourage positive relationships with the police; to inspire creative learning and awareness for children and families by providing meaningful and fun literacy-based experiences that help develop key life skills that are necessary for successful living as an adult.
The Reading Room provides a comfortable, welcoming environment where stories are shared and read together. Five (5) free books may be selected to take home every visit. Our belief is that “every child is a story yet to be told.”
Volunteers are a critical part of Cops'n' Kids of Easton. Whether staffing, sorting and labeling books, conducting book drives, individual's time is valuable and appreciated. Volunteers have made it possible to distribute over 110,000 books. Contact us, if interested.
